[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] An additional 233 inmates at Seoul Eastern Detention Center tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 28th, a third round of COVID-19 testing was conducted on 1,689 inmates at Seoul Eastern Detention Center who tested negative in the second test, resulting in 233 additional positive cases. With this test, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among staff and inmates at the Eastern Detention Center has risen to 748.
The exact route of infection for these individuals has not yet been confirmed. The Ministry of Justice has, for now, cohort-isolated the confirmed cases in 15 housing units.
