'No Shutdown' Trump Signs Federal Government Budget Bill (Update)
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] On the 27th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump signed a $2.4 trillion stimulus bill and federal budget. As a result, the temporary government shutdown was averted.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere announced that President Trump signed the two bills on that day.
President Trump left his residence at Mar-a-Lago Resort without prior notice, which was for the purpose of signing the bills.
Earlier, President Trump caused controversy by expressing dissatisfaction with the bipartisan agreement in Congress to provide $600 in cash to all citizens, insisting it should be increased to $2,000.
Before departing for the signing ceremony, President Trump posted on Twitter that "there is good news about the stimulus bill."
With President Trump signing the budget, the feared temporary shutdown of the U.S. federal government from the 29th has been avoided.
