Recruitment of Young Artists for Dongjak-gu's '3rd Noryangjin Night, Nighttime Battle'
Recruiting 20 Artist Teams for the 3rd Night Market from January 15-23, 2021... Top 3 Works Selected by Resident Online and Offline Voting with Separate Awards and Activity Stipends
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) announced that it is recruiting young artists to participate in the 3rd Noryangjin Night, Night Market (hereinafter Night Market) until the 4th.
Since 2018, the district has been promoting 'Noryangjin Night, Night Market' around Manyang-ro and Noryangjin-ro (including Cupbap Street) to comfort and support young people. It has established itself as a representative youth festival with 50,000 participants in 2018 and 100,000 in 2019.
The 3rd Night Market event decided to cancel all face-to-face events and hold a non-face-to-face alley exhibition through the 'Night Market Residents Council' meetings since last October due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This event is scheduled to be held for 9 days from January 15 to 23, transforming Manyang-ro and Noryangjin-ro into a taping art exhibition hall. However, the schedule may change depending on the spread of COVID-19.
The district is recruiting 20 artist teams to participate in exhibitions using the floors and stores within the event area.
Eligible applicants are artists capable of taping art, who can submit ▲group (individual) introduction ▲creative activity plan ▲portfolio via Naver form or to the person in charge's email.
Through external expert review, works with themes that support young people exhausted by COVID-19 and comfort residents will be mainly selected, with priority given to residents of the district.
Selected artists will receive a certain amount of activity expenses, and the process of creating the works will be recorded on video and uploaded to the Dongjak-gu Office YouTube channel, among others.
Excellent works will also be awarded. During the event period, combining online voting through the Night Market and Dongjak Cultural Foundation websites and on-site voting, ▲1st place (1 person, worth 1 million KRW) ▲2nd place (1 person, worth 500,000 KRW) ▲3rd place (2 persons, worth 250,000 KRW each) will be selected and awarded.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and infectious diseases, a quarantine team composed of merchants' association members will disinfect Manyang-ro and Noryangjin-ro frequently during the event, and the residents council will request thorough compliance with quarantine guidelines for each business targeting Noryangjin merchants and conduct self-inspections.
