Get a 10,000 Won Card Refund or Discount After Ordering 4 Times on Delivery Apps
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] If you order four times through a delivery application (app) at home, you can receive a refund or a billing discount from the card company.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 27th that it will resume support for dining discounts, which had been suspended due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), only for orders and payments made through delivery apps starting from 10 a.m. on the 29th.
Previously, the government started a dining discount support project on August 14 to help the dining industry, which was severely affected by COVID-19, but suspended it at midnight two days later as confirmed cases surged.
After COVID-19 conditions improved and consultations with quarantine authorities, the program resumed on October 30, but was suspended again on November 24 due to the occurrence of the "third wave" after mid-November.
Before the suspension, 3.24 million people participated and made 3.47 million payments, and among these, 290,000 cases that met the target performance received 2.9 billion KRW in refunds or cashback through card companies.
The resumed dining discount support project is only available for non-face-to-face dining sectors such as delivery and takeout. The event, which was previously held only on weekends, will be expanded to weekdays. Participating delivery apps include 'Baedal Teukgeup', 'Meokkebi', 'Baedal Minjok', 'Yogiyo', 'Coupang Eats', 'Wemakeprice O', and 'PAYCO', with 'Ddingdong', 'Baedal-ui Myeongsu', 'Bureusim', and 'Bureusim Zero' to be added later.
Consumers who wish to participate must first apply on the card company's website or app, then check whether the delivery app they use is participating in the event, and place and pay for orders totaling at least 20,000 KRW (based on the final payment amount) four times using the applied card on the delivery app.
If the conditions are met, the card company will refund or provide a billing discount of 10,000 KRW next month. Each card company allows up to two times per day, and simple payments on delivery apps are only recognized as valid if linked to the applied card.
It is possible to order and pay through the delivery app and then visit the store to pick up the food, but face-to-face payment with the delivery person or on-site payment at the store followed by takeout is not recognized. More detailed information about the event can be found on the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs website (www.mafra.go.kr).
