Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters "Received a Christmas Gift" ... New Life in 119 Ambulance
This Year Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters Dispatched for 436 Pregnant Women Transport Cases... Nearly Triple Compared to Last Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters announced on the 27th that a healthy baby was born inside a 119 ambulance at 1:03 a.m. on Christmas Day, the 25th.
A pregnant woman who felt labor pains while traveling from Yeongdeok-gun to Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do, got off at Sangju IC and requested help from 119. Upon arrival at the scene, the paramedics were guided by the Emergency Situation Management Center to a hospital capable of delivery and quickly transported her while preparing for emergency childbirth.
Two minutes before arriving at the hospital, when the paramedics saw the baby's head beginning to appear, they induced emergency delivery, and a 3.2 kg baby boy cried out for the first time inside the 119 ambulance.
The Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters has been implementing the "New Life Birth 119 Ambulance Service" since January 1st of this year to overcome low birth rates. This service involves the 119 ambulance team promptly dispatching and transporting pregnant women registered in the 119 U Safety Call who are about to give birth, at risk of premature labor, or have difficulty moving after childbirth to the hospital.
According to statistics from the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters, there have been 436 cases of pregnant women transported so far. The 119 paramedics have induced emergency delivery seven times, and among them, three new lives were born inside the ambulance. This is a 283% increase compared to 154 pregnant women transport dispatches during the same period last year.
