Germany Also Begins COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] COVID-19 vaccinations have also begun in Germany. This is one day ahead of Germany's official vaccination day scheduled for the 27th (local time).
According to the dpa news agency on the 26th (local time), Edith Kwoichala, a 101-year-old woman residing in a nursing home located in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, was the first among the residents to receive the vaccine.
Wearing a mask, she calmly received the vaccination with a smile.
Including her, about 40 residents and 10 staff members at the facility were reported to have been vaccinated.
German authorities had previously announced that, like many EU member states such as France and Italy, they would begin vaccinations on the 27th.
On the day before the official start of vaccinations, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, developed by the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the German company BioNTech and approved by the EU executive body, the European Commission, arrived in Germany.
