21 New COVID-19 Cases in Gyeongnam... Ongoing Chain of Local Infections
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] On Christmas Day, when the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) exceeded 1,200, continuous chain local infections are ongoing in Gyeongnam as well.
As of 5 p.m. on the 25th, Gyeongnam Province announced that 21 confirmed cases occurred: 5 in Geoje, 4 in Sacheon, 3 each in Changwon, Hadong, and Jinju, 2 in Miryang, and 1 in Yangsan.
In Geoje, 5 local infection cases were reported. A woman in her 50s tested positive and was classified as case number 1156. Also, a woman in her 30s who used the 'Jangpyeong Island Fitness D-Cube Branch' tested positive and was classified as case number 1160. A man in his 30s with an unknown infection route was confirmed positive the previous day and classified as case number 1161.
A woman in her 60s related to the Animal Medical Center tested positive and was classified as case number 1173. Additionally, a woman in her 60s with an unknown infection route tested positive and was classified as case number 1166.
Among the 4 cases in Sacheon, 3 are chain infections from a family cluster. A woman in her 50s tested positive and was classified as case number 1154. Then, a man and a woman in their 50s who had contact with case 1154 tested positive and were classified as cases 1157 and 1158, respectively.
Also, a woman in her 40s with an unknown infection route tested positive and was classified as case number 1167. Case 1167 is an instructor at an elementary school in Jinju.
In Changwon, 3 additional cases were confirmed. A woman in her 60s and a woman in her 50s who had contact with Busan case 1618 tested positive and were classified as cases 1162 and 1163. A man in his 60s with an unknown infection route tested positive and was classified as case number 1159.
In Hadong, chain infections originating from Hwagae-myeon continue. A man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s who worked with a county office employee confirmed positive the previous day tested positive and were classified as cases 1155 and 1169. Also, a man in his 50s who had contact with a restaurant worker was infected and classified as case number 1164. This brings the total number of cluster infections related to Hwagae-myeon to 17.
In Jinju, a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 20s, and a man in his 70s with unknown infection routes tested positive and were classified as cases 1171, 1172, and 1174.
In Miryang, two women in their 60s related to Yoon Hospital tested positive during tests for release from self-quarantine and were classified as cases 1165 and 1170. This brings the total number of Yoon Hospital-related cases to 24.
In Yangsan, a man in his 40s who had contact with family members tested positive and was classified as case number 1168.
Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has increased to a total of 1,171 (329 hospitalized, 839 discharged, 3 deceased).
