Guri-si Confirms 2021 Budget of 713.1 Billion KRW, an 11% Increase Compared to This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The 2021 budget for Guri-si, Gyeonggi Province has been finalized at 713.1 billion won.
Compared to this year's budget, the general account increased by 80.6 billion won (17.24%) to 548.3 billion won, while the special account decreased by 9.7 billion won (5.57%) to 164.8 billion won.
The main expenditure budget for the general account includes ▲ social welfare sector 239.8 billion won (43.73%) ▲ transportation and logistics sector 41.6 billion won (7.59%) ▲ environment sector 40.8 billion won (7.45%) ▲ culture and tourism sector 39.3 billion won (7.17%) ▲ land and regional development sector 36.8 billion won (6.71%), among others.
The city stated on the 25th, "Despite difficult local financial conditions, we have prepared an expanded budget that is 11.04% or 70.9 billion won larger than last year’s budget to continuously respond to COVID-19 and revitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, this is the first time since the opening of the Guri-si Council in 1991 that the city’s main budget proposal has been approved as originally submitted.

Kim Hyung-su, Chairman of the Guri-si Council, urged the city administration, saying, "In a situation where domestic conditions are uncertain due to the spread of COVID-19, I ask the executive branch to thoroughly execute the budget so that citizens, exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, can regain vitality."
