Most Residents of Gokseong County Feel Pride in Their Region According to This Year's Social Survey Results
Announcement of the 2020 Social Survey Results on the 24th
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The overall anxiety rate regarding social safety in Gokseong County was very low at 14%, but the anxiety rates for new infectious diseases and natural disasters were significantly higher at 43% and 33.9%, respectively, compared to other categories.
This result appears to have been influenced by the spread of the COVID-19 infectious disease and the flood damage that occurred last August.
According to the 2020 Gokseong County Social Survey results announced by Gokseong County on the 24th, the majority of Gokseong residents expressed pride in their region.
The county conducted the social survey over 12 days from August 21 to September 7.
The survey was conducted on residents aged 15 and older from 828 sample households, covering 46 items across four sectors related to population, consumption and income, welfare, and education.
Looking at the main survey results, the response rate for residents' sense of belonging and pride stands out. 94.6% of residents responded that they feel a moderate or higher sense of belonging and pride as members of the community.
The number of households increased while the population slightly decreased. As of December 31, 2019, the number of households was 15,289, an increase of 157 households compared to the previous year (2018).
On the other hand, the population recorded 28,887, a 2.5% (737 people) decrease compared to 2018, which appears to be due to a combination of factors such as an increase in single-person households and natural population decline.
Regarding youth support policies, responses indicated a high need for employment counseling and startup support. However, among those under 30, the target group for youth support policies, there was a higher response indicating the need for youth job-seeking activity allowance support. This suggests that youth policy should be formulated considering that the voices of the actual youth beneficiaries may differ from the demands of the general residents.
As an effective measure to attract population, job-related projects were considered important. Regarding ways to increase the influx of young people, 27.8% favored creating jobs through corporate attraction, and 20% supported fostering young prosperous farmers by expanding support in the agricultural sector.
For job creation, respondents indicated the need for youth job support projects (22.6%) and social enterprise development projects (21.1%).
