For the health and safety of myself, my family, and neighbors,
please participate in proactive COVID-19 testing.
Dear residents of Seongbuk-gu, this is Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu.
With the number of domestic confirmed cases reaching about 1,000 per day, quarantine efforts are once again facing a crisis. Seongbuk-gu is mobilizing all administrative power and possible methods to ensure that the resurgence of COVID-19 is brought under control for the safety and happiness of its residents.
First, to prevent the spread of asymptomatic infections, we are increasing temporary screening clinics to thoroughly reduce blind spots in quarantine.
The Seongbuk-gu Public Health Center screening clinic is extended to operate from 9 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and 9 AM to 6 PM on weekends.
Temporary screening clinics have been proactively opened at Seokgye Station Taereung Civil Defense Education Center and Seongbuk-gu Office Baram Madang, operating from 9 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and 10 AM to 3 PM on weekends. Since the 15th, a total of 5,626 tests, averaging about 700 tests daily, have identified 22 asymptomatic confirmed cases.
Second, we are doing our utmost to strengthen the public medical system.
Our district has designated one living treatment center to operate beds for mild confirmed cases. Given the district’s characteristic of having many universities, we are in discussions with local universities to establish additional living treatment centers, continuously expanding facilities including the dormitories of Korea University.
Lastly, we are making every effort to ensure thorough quarantine activities in daily life.
We conduct disinfection activities in each neighborhood more than six times a week and actively inspect facilities with potential risks of group infections.
Dear residents of Seongbuk-gu, reliable partners in quarantine!
The public health medical system alone has limitations in COVID-19 quarantine.
Along with quarantine measures, voluntary participation from residents is absolutely necessary. Please refrain from gatherings of five or more people during the year-end and New Year holidays, and actively participate in proactive COVID-19 testing to protect yourself, your family, neighbors, and to break the chain of infection within the community.
All 1,500 Seongbuk-gu employees will unite and do their best so that we can all regain our precious daily lives.
