Shin Young-dae, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said during an afternoon briefing on the 23rd, "The court's ruling is so harsh that it is bewildering. We hope the truth will be properly revealed in the remaining trial process."
Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yong-min also wrote on Facebook, "What Yoon Seok-yeol aimed for through judicial surveillance was exactly this," emphasizing, "Yoon Seok-yeol and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's crimes must be punished without fail."
Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Nam-guk said, "My chest feels tight and I can't breathe," adding, "It seems there is nowhere in the world where one can freely shout out the truth. I will walk together, enduring the rain and stones together."
Kim Jin-ae, a lawmaker from the Open Democratic Party, which is classified as pro-government, questioned, "Is this ultimately the court siding with the prosecution? What about Yoon Seok-yeol’s mother-in-law?" and asked, "Are the award certificates and internship confirmations more dangerous?"
On the other hand, lawmakers from the People Power Party expressed the position that "Yoon Seok-yeol was right." Ha Tae-kyung, a People Power Party lawmaker, wrote on Facebook, "In the end, Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol was right," and stated, "This court ruling acknowledges the crimes of the Cho family, proving that the 'drive to oust Yoon Seok-yeol' has no legitimacy." Kim Woong, also from the People Power Party, said, "I am worried that attacks on judges will begin now."
