Gangjin-gun, Gundo-myeon Yeongpo District Achieves Success in 'Happy Housing Project Contest Selection'
Promotion of Public Rental Housing Development Project, Total Investment of 17.2 Billion KRW Including National Subsidies Planned
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that happy housing for the youth generation will be built in the Yeongpo district of Gundo-myeon.
On the 16th, five districts were selected as the '7th Happy Housing Candidate Sites of 2020' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and among them, the Yeongpo district of Gundo-myeon was selected as one site.
The Happy Housing project is a public rental housing development project that supplies residences at prices lower than the surrounding market price for youth groups such as local university students, newlyweds, and young workers. The project cost is expected to total 17.2 billion KRW, including 15.2 billion KRW in national funds.
The project site is located across from Jungheung Apartment at 890 Hogye-ri, Gundo-myeon, with a site area of 7,526㎡, where 100 youth housing units and neighborhood living facilities tailored for youth will be constructed.
This project will be implemented by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH). The goal is to complete the detailed design and project plan approval by next year and complete construction in the second half of 2023.
In particular, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) plans to manage maintenance after move-in. Residents will be recruited sequentially starting from 2023.

County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, "With the selection of this public contest project, we plan to provide more affordable and stable housing spaces for youth groups such as workers following the additional development of Gangjin 2 Industrial Complex," adding, "I hope this will serve as an opportunity to curb the outflow of the youth population from Gangjin-gun to urban areas."
