The event was attended by Ha Seok-ju, CEO of Lotte Construction, Yang Seung-jo, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do, Kim Myung-sun, Chairman of the Chungnam Provincial Council, Kim Ki-young, Chungnam Provincial Council member, Jo Seung-man, Chungnam Provincial Council member, Lee Jong-hwa, Chungnam Provincial Council member, Kim Man-nyeon, President of Naepo Green Energy, Shin Jeong-sik, President of Korea South Power, and local residents.
This project is scheduled for completion in May 2023 and will produce 495MW of LNG combined heat and power using the clean fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG). It will supply heating and cooling to Naepo New City, which has a population of 100,000 (40,000 households) and covers approximately 9,951,000㎡. It is also expected to play a role as a distributed power source, significantly contributing to improving residential conditions in Naepo New City as an urban infrastructure.
Notably, this project achieved a successful fuel transition from the district energy project that used SRF (solid refuse fuel), which local residents had opposed, to the eco-friendly energy LNG.
Ha Seok-ju, CEO of Lotte Construction, said, “We will do our best to successfully complete this Naepo New City district energy facility project so that it can contribute to the development of Chungnam Province and establish Naepo New City as an innovation city.”
