Eleven students from Dongmyung University’s SW Convergence College and ten students from California State University’s Computer Science Department will meet online. They will engage in SW education learning based on project execution.
This ZOOM-based SW education and collaborative project between Korean and American university students showcases a new trend in global untact student exchange models in the COVID-19 era.
The education will take place over four weeks (January 5?29). In the mornings, students will learn the latest web technologies such as HTML, Node.js, TypeScript, and Angular from a web engineer at the American IT company Bay Valley Tech.
In the afternoons, students from both schools will form teams and collaborate to carry out projects. Dongmyung University recently signed a cooperation agreement with California State University.
To support project execution, two professors from California State University and Dongmyung University will provide mentoring.
To share information and experiences about global employment and entrepreneurship with Dongmyung University students, Zoom meetings will be held with Korean senior engineers in Silicon Valley, including Kim Hoon from Amazon, Kim Jae-bong from Google, Cho Sung-joo from LinkedIn, and Park Jae-kwon from Nutanix.
Since early this year, Dongmyung University has signed an MOU with California State University to nurture SW major students as global SW talents who can advance beyond Busan to the world. They have been preparing online SW education, exchange student programs, and a 3+1 joint degree program.
This is part of Dongmyung University’s SW-centered university global SW talent cultivation program. It is gaining attention as a new model for global SW talent education.
