H5-Type AI Antigen Detected at Duck Farm in Namwon, Jeonbuk
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza announced on the 23rd that H5-type avian influenza (AI) antigen was detected at a meat duck farm (raising about 40,000 ducks) located in Namwon-si, Jeonbuk.
The detection was made during a pre-slaughter shipment inspection of the duck farm conducted by the Jeonbuk Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory. The determination of whether it is highly pathogenic is expected to be available within 1 to 3 days.

Immediately after detecting the H5 antigen, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters dispatched an initial response team to the site to control access to the farm, conduct an epidemiological investigation, and impose movement restrictions as well as surveillance and detailed inspections on farms within a 10 km radius.
