Dongjak-gu Supports Sports Class Voucher Program
Support for Sports Class Fees up to 80,000 KRW per Month per Child for Vulnerable Households' Youth Aged 5-18... Access to 49 Public and Private Sports Facilities Available, Subject to Change Due to COVID-19 Situation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is promoting the 2021 Sports Class Voucher support to assist the sports activities of children from low-income households.
The Sports Class Voucher support project is designed to help promote healthy leisure and activate sports activities by supporting the cost of sports class tuition for children and adolescents from vulnerable households.
The eligible recipients are children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 (born between January 1, 2003, and December 31, 2016) who are registered residents of Dongjak-gu, and belong to households receiving livelihood, medical, housing, or education benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, as well as the near-poor class.
The application period is from January 4 to 20 next year, and applications can be submitted online through the Sports Class Voucher website.
Priority will be given to new users and those with less than 30 months of cumulative use, and among the same priority group, households receiving basic livelihood benefits will be given preference.
Selected recipients will receive support for one sports class per person each month, up to 80,000 KRW, for at least eight months starting from February next year. However, the support period and other details may change depending on the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The vouchers can be used at 49 public and private sports facilities in the area, including Heukseok Sports Center, Sadang Cultural Center, and Sadang General Gymnasium.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the district plans to continuously monitor compliance with strict quarantine rules such as social distancing between users, temperature checks, mask-wearing, and hand sanitization through on-site inspections of the facilities.
Additionally, through monthly tuition fee settlements, any unused balance will be reallocated to additional selected recipients.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Sports and Culture Division or the Sports Class Voucher Consultation Center.
Jinhee Jo, head of the Sports and Culture Division, said, “Through this project, we will support the healthy growth of low-income children and adolescents in the region,” and added, “We will continue to actively discover customized sports activity support projects tailored to residents’ age and class.”
