Recruitment of Human Rights Guardians in Yeongdeungpo-gu
Recruiting 15 District Residents as Human Rights Guardians Until the 24th... One-Year Term from Appointment to Monitor Human Rights Violations, Protection, and Propose Human Rights Policies Representing Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is recruiting citizen human rights guardians until the 24th to activate citizen participation in the establishment and implementation of human rights policies and actively reflect citizens' opinions.
The citizen human rights guardians consist of about 35 members in total, with 15 new recruits this time. Any citizen interested in human rights can apply.
The application period is until the 24th, and the activity period is one year from the date of appointment.
The appointed human rights guardians will take on roles such as ▲monitoring human rights violations and protection ▲proposing human rights policies and forming human rights networks, actively cooperating as representatives of citizens in matters requiring the collection of opinions related to human rights.
They will also engage in learning club activities such as watching human rights films, sharing human rights issues, and studying, taking the lead in discovering and improving human rights violations and inconveniences felt in daily life.
Furthermore, various activities to raise citizens' awareness of human rights will be carried out, including human rights site visits to landmarks with the history of domestic human rights development such as democratization movements, and campaigns to promote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Citizens who wish to apply can fill out the application form and self-introduction posted on the district office website announcement section and submit them via email (shinkim1@ydp.go.kr) or fax.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, only non-face-to-face submissions are accepted.
The district office will conduct an internal review considering diversity in understanding of human rights, human rights activity experience, residence (dong), gender, age, and work field to select the final candidates, who will be individually notified in January next year.
Graduates of the district human rights guardian training course or those who have completed the resident human rights school 2nd term or higher will be given preference in selection.
Meanwhile, the 2nd term human rights guardians selected this year will be given the opportunity to participate without a separate screening if they apply this time, considering that their activities were restricted due to social distancing measures for COVID-19.
