View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] K Bank, an internet-only bank, announced on the 22nd that it donated 12,500 briquettes to Bapsang Community Briquette Bank (hereinafter Briquette Bank) to support neighbors marginalized during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The briquettes donated by K Bank are scheduled to be delivered to jjokbangchon (small room villages) in areas such as Jongno-gu and Yongsan-gu in Seoul. Although employee briquette volunteer activities were initially planned, only a delivery ceremony was held in compliance with quarantine guidelines considering social distancing measures.
K Bank has conducted non-face-to-face financial education annually as part of its social contribution activities, but this year, considering the sharp decline in briquette donations due to COVID-19, it decided to support briquette donations.
According to the Briquette Bank, briquette donations from January to November this year decreased by about 30% compared to the previous year. Despite the onset of severe cold waves, briquettes are not being delivered to marginalized neighbors.
