[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Mirae Asset Investment and Pension Center has identified 11 promising sectors for investment in exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including electric vehicles and cloud computing, and presented investment strategies.
On the 22nd, Mirae Asset Investment and Pension Center announced the publication of the ETF investment strategy compendium titled "ETF Investment, Focus on 11 Major Themes!" which contains these strategies.
The compendium serves as a guide to thematic ETF investments, analyzing 11 promising themes: electric vehicles, cloud computing, Chinese biotech, Chinese consumption, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, telemedicine, gaming, social media, fintech (finance + technology), and e-commerce.
It explains that thematic ETFs, which are experiencing rapid growth, allow investors to easily align their investments with global trends. According to ETFTrends.com, an ETF market analysis firm, as of the end of September, thematic ETFs in the U.S. amounted to $59 billion, representing about 1.2% of the U.S. ETF market. In the third quarter of this year, thematic ETFs grew by 42% compared to the previous quarter, significantly outperforming the overall U.S. ETF market growth rate of 7% during the same period.

The compendium is available for free as an e-book on the Mirae Asset Investment and Pension Center website. Kim Seunghyun, team leader of the ETF Marketing Division at Mirae Asset Global Investments and the lead author, stated, "Thematic ETFs should invest in themes that can have a long-term impact on the global economy by comprehensively considering factors such as the development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the advent of the untact era due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)."
