According to Sangju City on the 22nd, it received a total of eight institutional awards in the agricultural sector this year, including the top prize for 'Proper Food Production Policy,' the top prize for 'Special Crop Policy,' the top prize for 'Fruit Industry Promotion Policy,' the grand prize for 'Gyeongbuk Agricultural Products Production Area Distribution Policy,' and the grand prize for 'Excellent Agricultural Food Export Policy City and County.'
This is a source of pride for Sangju City, as it reflects the results of implementing customized policies aimed at structural reform and strengthening competitiveness in agriculture despite numerous internal and external challenges this year, such as COVID-19, prolonged monsoons, typhoons, and falling agricultural product prices.
It was recognized as an opportunity to confirm the effectiveness of Sangju City's agricultural policies and was evaluated as having elevated Sangju's status in line with its reputation as the 'Capital of Korean Agriculture and the No. 1 Destination for Returning Farmers and Rural Migration.'
There was also good news for farmers. At this year's 25th Farmers' Day Awards Ceremony, Lee Heung-gyu, president of the Sangju branch of the National Korean Beef Association, received the Industrial Medal. Additionally, Kwon Soon-chan in the fruit and flower sector and Kim Hyung-soo, CEO of Gosan Agricultural Cooperative Corporation in the agricultural and marine products export sector, were honored with the Gyeongbuk Agriculturalist Awards.
