Announcer-Turned-Show Host Goryeo Jin Passes Away
Hosting Various Programs on TBS... Also Active as Korea's First Show Host
Former announcer and show host Goryeo Jin passed away on the 21st due to a chronic illness. She was 79 years old.
Born in Jeju, she joined Jeju Broadcasting (radio) KBS as an announcer in 1962. She was scouted at the launch of TBS in 1964 and hosted various programs until 1987, including "Show Panorama," "East, West, South, North," "Roaming the Streets," "Driver Singing Contest," and "6th Singer Show." She was loved by viewers for her distinctive clear and crisp voice.
In 1995, she became the first domestic show host at CJ39 Shopping, which had just launched. She played a key role as the company's flagship host, contributing to sales growth and becoming the first woman to be promoted to director. In 2005, she opened the "Goryeo Jin Academy," a specialized training institute for show hosts, and was appointed its director.

She is survived by her son, Jeon Hyeongjun, and daughter, Eunseon. The funeral is being held in Room 1 of the funeral hall at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital. The funeral procession will depart at 7:20 a.m. on the 23rd, and the burial site is Namhangang Park Cemetery.
