Gwanak-gu Wins Encouragement Award in 2020 Health and Life Sciences Excellence Contest
Successful Operation of 'One-Stop Rehabilitation Integrated Service' Providing Comprehensive Support in Health, Medical Care, Welfare, and Housing Environment Leads to Seoul City Mentor Health Center Selection ... Training and Project Development for Other District Practitioners
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) won the Encouragement Award at the ‘2020 Health and Life Sciences Best Practices Contest’ hosted by the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare.
This contest was held to share on-site operational know-how and discover field experts. Among 27 excellent cases submitted nationwide, a total of 7 cases were selected through internal and external evaluations.
The district submitted a customized integrated service project for severely disabled homebound individuals under the theme of ‘One-Stop Rehabilitation Integrated Service’ and received excellent evaluations.
The One-Stop Rehabilitation Integrated Service goes beyond fragmented services such as one-on-one treatment for visitors or home rehabilitation therapy, providing integrated support for health, medical care, welfare, and living environment.
When a referral for rehabilitation of a severely disabled person is received, the ‘Rehabilitation Dream Team,’ composed of occupational therapists, physical therapists, and nurses, visits to comprehensively identify problems and needs, and through a community rehabilitation council meeting, helps find fundamental solutions.
One committee member who attended the meeting expressed their emotional impression, saying, “You are doing a great work that saves not just one person but an entire family. I did not expect such excellent work. I sincerely respect you.”
Gwanak-gu Public Health Center was selected as a Seoul City mentor health center this year due to the successful operation of the community rehabilitation council meetings and the One-Stop Rehabilitation Integrated Service, and is also making efforts to educate practitioners from other districts and expand the project horizontally.
