On the 21st, the Changwon Welfare Foundation held its inauguration ceremony attended by about 30 officials, including Changwon Mayor Heo Seong-mu and Changwon City Council Chairman Lee Chi-woo.
The Changwon Welfare Foundation was established to provide substantial welfare services as the "Changwon-type control tower" in line with the vision of "realizing a people-centered welfare Changwon where citizens are the owners."
The foundation began its establishment plan in October 2018, with the ordinance enacted in May and the foundation registration completed on September 23. The foundation's basic assets amount to 3 billion KRW, and the board consists of a total of 10 members, including the chairman.
The Changwon Welfare Foundation plans to overcome the local financial limitations of the annually increasing welfare budget and establish a new welfare system to enhance the welfare experience. It will promote research and discovery of Changwon-type welfare policies, elimination of welfare blind spots, activation of sharing projects, and improvement of social welfare workers' treatment.
Jang Jin-gyu, chairman of the Changwon Welfare Foundation, said, "We will actively discover and promote effective policies that identify and resolve the difficulties of neighbors and the hardships of welfare facility workers."
