Sangju City's '1st Entrepreneur Award' Grand Prize Goes to Dong Cheonsu CEO Park Cheolho

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Sangju City, Gyeongbuk announced on the 21st that it has selected Park Cheol-ho, CEO of Dongcheonsu Co., Ltd., as the grand prize winner of the 'Entrepreneur Award' established for the first time this year. The Excellence Award went to Lee Jae-han, CEO of Hanra Food.
Sangju City made this decision after the first screening by the Sangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held a review by the Sangju City Public Evaluation Committee on the 17th and 18th. The award ceremony was postponed to January next year considering the recent large-scale spread of COVID-19.
The grand prize winner, CEO Park Cheol-ho (51), has been serving as the CEO of Dongcheonsu Co., Ltd., located in Hwabuk-myeon, since 2014. He has received the National Assembly Commendation for Regional Sports Development in 2019 and the Daegu Regional Employment and Labor Office Commendation in 2020.
From total sales of 6.4 billion KRW in 2015, sales increased by 288% to 24.8 billion KRW in 2019. Starting with 14 employees at the time of establishment, the company actively promoted local talent recruitment, growing to a total of 84 employees including 56 at the Sangju headquarters as of 2020, which was recognized as a merit.
CEO Park has also actively engaged in social contribution activities such as delivering briquettes and side dishes to vulnerable groups in the region, providing scholarships for elementary, middle, and high school students, and sponsoring the Sangju Hyanggyo Filial Piety Commendation.
The Excellence Award winner, CEO Lee Jae-han (47), established Hanra Food in Hamchang Industrial Complex in 1999 and has been striving for the development of the food seasoning sauce industry. He has received the Model Taxpayer Award in 2015 and the Prime Minister’s Award in 2018.
CEO Lee, who founded Hanra Food at the age of 25 in 1999, developed the country’s first smoked tuna liquid sauce after 20 years of hard work and obtained a patent in 2009. He has been dedicated to technological innovation since the establishment, acquiring venture business certification in 2016 and Inno-Biz certification (technology innovation-type small and medium enterprise) in 2017.
In December, Hanra Food invested a total of 3 billion KRW to complete an additional smart factory within the Hamchang Industrial Complex, aiming to create 15 jobs and achieve total sales of 12 billion KRW in 2021.
