[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 21st that the design competition for the expansion of the workplace daycare center, which is being promoted to reduce the burden on employees due to childcare, selected the work of Kim Yoonsoo Architectural Office.
The winning design features an ㅁ-shaped layout and a piloti reinterpretation of the traditional open wooden floor concept similar to Byeongsan Seowon Mandaeru, incorporating traditional architectural elements to harmonize with the main building, receiving high praise from the judges.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education workplace daycare center, accommodating 50 infants and toddlers, is scheduled to open in March 2023 on the current education office site with a project cost of 9.3 billion KRW.
The new building will be an environmentally friendly structure free of harmful substances, certified for building energy efficiency rating, zero-energy building, and Barrier-Free (BF) living environment.
