One Confirmed COVID-19 Patient from Eumseong Somang Hospital Flees in Seoul... "Police Begin Pursuit" (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] A confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) escaped while being transferred from Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk to a hospital in Seoul on the 20th. The police are currently pursuing the individual.
According to the police and fire authorities, around 1 p.m. on the same day, A (58), who was wearing a patient gown from Somang Hospital in Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk, escaped by taxi in front of the main gate of the National Center for Mental Health in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, where he was being transferred.
Two patients from Somang Hospital, including A, were transferred that day in an ambulance equipped with negative pressure facilities. After arriving at the National Center for Mental Health, A reportedly unfastened his seatbelt and fled while the accompanying staff briefly stepped out to complete the admission procedures. The other patient completed the transfer.
The escaped individual, A, is believed not to have a mobile phone. Somang Hospital is reported to have contacted A's family members.
