Gyeongju City Recognized as an 'Excellent Institution' in Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'National Safety Education' Evaluation
Showcasing the Safety-First City Gyeongju Brand under the 7th Elected Administration
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 20th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the national safety education performance inspection conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety targeting 267 organizations including central government ministries and local governments.
In this inspection, promoted to revitalize safety education according to the 'Basic Act on the Promotion of National Safety Education' enacted in May 2017, Gyeongju City was selected as an excellent institution for the first time.
For a fair inspection, the Central Safety Education Inspection Team, consisting of 36 members including 27 private experts and 9 public officials, inspected central government ministries and metropolitan cities/provinces, while cities/counties/districts formed safety education inspection teams under their respective metropolitan cities/provinces to conduct self-inspections. As a result of the inspection, 6 central government ministries, 5 metropolitan cities/provinces, and 68 cities/counties/districts were selected as excellent institutions.
Gyeongju City received high evaluations for conducting the 365-day Attention and Care Family Training Campaign, producing earthquake and tsunami evacuation site guide maps, and implementing safety education programs for both domestic and foreign residents.
Mayor Ju Nak-young of Gyeongju City stated, "We prioritize building a safety-first city that protects citizens' lives and property as the top priority of our administration and are making efforts toward this goal," adding, "Furthermore, through customized safety education, we will enable citizens themselves to develop the capacity to protect themselves."

Meanwhile, Gyeongju City has been externally recognized for its disaster response management capabilities, having been selected this year as an excellent institution for the 2020 Disaster Risk Area Maintenance Project, awarded the Ministry of the Interior and Safety commendation for the 2020 Disaster Management Evaluation, and recognized as an excellent institution in the Gyeongbuk Province Disaster Response Regular Training.
