Samsung Semiconductor Division 'Half of Annual Salary is Performance Bonus'
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Employees of Samsung Electronics' semiconductor division are expected to receive performance bonuses amounting to about half of their annual salary.
According to industry sources on the 20th, Samsung Electronics announced the expected payout rates for this year's Over Performance Incentive (OPI) on the company's internal internet network on the 18th.
OPI is Samsung's performance bonus system that pays up to 50% of the annual salary within a 20% limit of profits exceeding the annual management targets set.
The expected OPI payout rates are known to be 43?46% of the annual salary for Samsung Electronics' semiconductor division, 41?47% for the wireless division including smartphones, and 28?34% for the home appliances division.
This year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, improved performance compared to last year led to an increase in the OPI payout rates. Last year, the rates were about 29% for the semiconductor division, 28% for the wireless division, and 22% for the home appliances division.
