47 Confirmed Cases at Gyeongnam Shipyard, Navy, Bathhouse, Hospital, etc... Total 1,043 Cases (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] As the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) spreads rapidly in South Korea, infections continue in Gyeongnam Province as well.
As of 5 p.m. on the 19th, Gyeongnam Province reported 47 new cases: 16 in Geoje, 9 in Changwon, 7 each in Gimhae and Jinju, 5 in Sacheon, 2 in Miryang, and 1 in Yangsan.
In Geoje, 16 confirmed cases emerged in a single day. Three of them were contacts who used a public bathhouse. A woman in her 40s, a woman in her 70s, and a woman in her 50s tested positive and were classified as cases 1006 to 1008.
Case 1006 is a medical staff member at a hospital in Geoje. Movement restrictions have been imposed on the ward where they worked and on 90 inpatients.
Four men in their 50s and one man in his 40s working at the same shipyard tested positive and were classified as cases 1002, 1009, 1017, 1018, and 1027. So far, 7 confirmed cases have been identified among 2,673 employees tested at the shipyard.
A man in his 50s and a teenage girl, both family contacts, also tested positive and were classified as cases 1025 and 1026. A man in his 30s with an unknown infection route tested positive and was classified as case 1019.
The five additional confirmed cases in Geoje, cases 1035 to 1037, 1039, and 1040, are all local contacts.
In Changwon, six additional cases were reported, including one overseas entrant. A man in his 50s and a man in his 40s, contacts of a naval officer in Jinhae, tested positive and were classified as cases 1015 and 1016.
A woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s, both family contacts, also tested positive and were classified as cases 1021 and 1022.
A woman in her 20s medical staff and an employee at a hospital in Changwon with an unknown infection route tested positive and were classified as cases 1012 and 1038. A man in his 50s who entered from Russia also tested positive and was classified as case 1023.
The three additional confirmed cases in Changwon, cases 1031, 1032, and 1038, tested positive after experiencing symptoms and undergoing testing.
In Jinju, three of the four cases are contacts of existing confirmed cases. A 5-year-old girl attending a kindergarten in Jinju, who had contact with her father in his 30s, was classified as case 1010.
Also, a woman in her 60s who had contact with case 1006 tested positive and was classified as case 1011. A man in his 60s using a senior day care center in Jinju tested positive and was classified as case 1004. The three additional confirmed cases in Jinju, cases 1044 to 1046, are local contacts.
In Sacheon, one woman in her 20s, two men in their 50s, and one woman in her 50s tested positive and were classified as cases 1000, 1001, 1024, and 1028 respectively. The additional confirmed case 1043 in Sacheon is a local case.
In Gimhae, a woman in her 50s tested positive and was classified as case 1005. A woman in her 20s and a man in his 50s infected by a confirmed case from Busan tested positive and were classified as cases 1013 and 1014.
A 5-year-old girl who was a contact of case 872 also tested positive and was classified as case 1029. The additional confirmed cases in Gimhae, cases 1033, 1041, and 1042, are all local contacts.
Two medical staff members at Yun Hospital in Miryang, a woman in her 50s and a woman in her 20s, tested positive and were classified as cases 1020 and 1034. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to Yun Hospital to 17.
Case 1030 in Yangsan was a contact of case 832 in Gyeongnam and tested positive after developing symptoms during self-quarantine.
