China Finalizes Anti-Dumping Ruling on Synthetic Rubber from Korea, US, and EU
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] On the 18th, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that it has made a final dumping determination on synthetic rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber, EPDM) products imported from Korea, the United States, and Europe.
EPDM is a rubber product synthesized from ethylene and propylene. Due to its durability, it is widely used for industrial purposes such as automotive parts.
In October, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce imposed provisional deposits ranging from 12.5% to 222.0% on EPDM products imported from these regions, judging that dumping was occurring and causing substantial damage to domestic companies. This time, it made the final dumping determination.
Anti-dumping duties exceeding 200% were imposed on products from five U.S. companies, including 222% on Dow Chemical and 214.9% on ExxonMobil products.
