Professor Jeon Woo-jin of Chonnam National University Appointed as President of the Korean Society of Food and Nutrition Science
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Jeonnam National University announced on the 18th that Professor Jeon Woo-jin of the Department of Food and Nutrition Science will be inaugurated as the new president of the Korean Society of Food and Nutrition Science.
Professor Jeon will assume the position of the 37th president of the Korean Society of Food and Nutrition Science starting January 1st next year and will lead the society for one year.
Professor Jeon has been recognized for his contributions to strengthening the capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises in the food sector, which has weak technological capabilities, and for specifically proposing the facilities and environment needed for health functional food research at the National Food Cluster. He has received awards such as the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award and the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award.
The Korean Society of Food and Nutrition Science, founded in 1971 under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, is a representative society in the fields of food science and nutrition in Korea with about 1,500 regular members.
In particular, it is the only domestic society in the food and nutrition field that publishes an SCI journal (Journal of Medicinal Food, impact factor 2.020).
