View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), 8,356 schools in 15 cities and provinces nationwide were unable to hold in-person classes on the 18th.
The Ministry of Education announced at 10 a.m. that the number of schools unable to hold in-person classes increased by 36 from 8,320 schools the previous day.
By region, all schools in the metropolitan area and Ulsan, 57 kindergartens and elementary schools in Jecheon, Chungbuk, and 95 schools in Seosan, Chungnam switched to remote classes.

The number of newly confirmed student cases increased by 66 as of midnight that day. From the 14th to the 17th, the number of confirmed student cases exceeded 60 each day. As a result, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed students reached 2,275. The number of confirmed staff cases was 7, totaling 426.
