Geumsan Gallery in Hoehyeon-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul announced on the 17th that it opened Moon Jun-yong's solo exhibition titled 'Beyond the Gaze, Somewhere in Between' on the same day.
This exhibition showcases five media art pieces, including new works 'Inside' and 'Outside,' which deal with multiple perspectives on overlapping spaces. The works are based on the artist's devised 'Augmented Shadow.' It is a device that implements augmented reality (AR) by detecting the position and angle of lighting with sensors and projecting virtual shadow images via computer graphics onto real shadows.
Visitors can move the lighting angle to observe the shadows and perceive the virtual reality contained within, experiencing a crossing between reality and virtuality. 'Inside' is a work where visitors enter and exit the space through doors and windows, while 'Outside' deals with the perspective of looking down on the space from outside.
In October, Moon also exhibited 'Augmented Shadow - Inside' at the '2020 Paradise Art Lab Festival' held at Paradise City in Yeongjongdo.
Geumsan Gallery introduced this exhibition as demonstrating the artist's experimental spirit, who has explored a unique visual language through media works using various technologies. The gallery is operated by CEO Hwang Dal-seong, a classmate of President Moon from Namhang Elementary School in Busan.
