Professor Cha Du-ok of Dongshin University Wins '2020 Korea Economic Culture Awards' in Film Category
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Dongshin University announced that Professor Cha Du-ok of the Musical and Practical Music Department was selected as the winner in the film category of the '2020 Korea Economic Culture Awards' hosted by the Korea Economic Culture Institute (KECI) on the 17th.
Now in its 7th year, the 'Korea Economic Culture Awards' selects recipients annually by evaluating individuals in politics, economy, culture, arts, and sports.
Since joining Dongshin University's Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment in March 2001, Professor Cha has been recognized for his contributions to nurturing talent in the cultural and artistic fields and for his efforts in advancing regional culture and arts.
In particular, he has been praised for fostering the dreams and talents of youth through programs such as the 'Jeonnam Education Student Video Reporter Camp' and the 'Film Production Camp,' and for significantly contributing to the healthy mental development of young people through directing educational films for youth.
In 2006, Professor Cha established the Gwangju Film Commission in Gwangju, which was then a barren land for the video industry, serving as its chairman of the board and attracting numerous film and drama productions, thereby contributing to the development of the local video industry. For these achievements, he received the Gwangju Arts and Culture Award from the Gwangju Federation of Arts and Culture and a commendation from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education in 2015.

Currently, he continues to contribute to the development of regional culture and arts by serving as an advisory committee member of the Gwangju Culture and Arts Center and the Gwangju Cultural Foundation, vice chairman of the Life Theater Association and head of the Gwangju branch, a member of the Gwangju Cultural Diversity Committee, and president of the Gwangju Filmmakers Association.
