Gwangju Seo-gu Public Officials' Heartwarming Good Deeds in the Cold Winter Draw Attention
Some of the Cleaning Administration Department Staff's Bonus Funds Designated for Winter Clothing Purchase for 'Paeji Neun Eoreusin'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The city has been awarded the top prize for three consecutive years in the Resource Circulation-Oriented Urban Environment Implementation Evaluation.
Employees of the Cleaning Administration Division at Seo-gu Office in Gwangju Metropolitan City have attracted attention by deciding to use their prize money to help elderly people collecting waste paper in the district.
According to Seo-gu on the 17th, more than 20 employees of the Cleaning Administration Division recently agreed to use part of their prize money meaningfully to mark the year-end and New Year holidays.
Accordingly, they designated and donated part of the prize money (5 million KRW) received for being selected as the top institution for three consecutive years in the “Resource Circulation-Oriented Urban Environment Implementation Evaluation” hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City to the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea.
The donation will be used to purchase winter clothing to be given to 76 elderly people who collect recyclable materials such as waste paper.
The winter clothing will be delivered directly to the elderly at the local community centers according to the clothing sizes surveyed in advance.
In addition, quarantine masks and safety gloves will be distributed to ensure the elderly can work safely.
Moon Gwangho, head of the Cleaning Administration Division, said, “I hope this winter clothing support will be a small help to the elderly spending the cold winter,” and added, “We will continue to pay attention and provide support so that the elderly can work healthily and safely.”
Meanwhile, on October 12, Seo-gu signed a business agreement with five organizations including Kkeullim and Seo-gu Senior Club to promote the “Kkeullim Handcart Advertising Project.”
