Mokpo Sarang Volunteer Group Holds Hope Package Sharing Event in Jukgyo-dong
Food Packages Delivered to 49 Single Elderly Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] Mokpo Sarang Volunteer Association (President Moon Kyung-hee) announced on the 17th that it held the ‘Visiting Hope Package Sharing Event’ at Jukgyo-dong Administrative Welfare Center on the 11th to help elderly living alone, exhausted from COVID-19, have a healthy winter.
Despite the cold weather, members who gathered to deliver warm hearts to their neighbors personally visited 49 elderly households living alone and delivered food packages carefully prepared with samgyetang, jeolpyeon, side dishes, and more, providing warm comfort to the seniors.
Mokpo Sarang Volunteer Association has held events such as sharing jjajangmyeon and chicken porridge every year for neighbors in need, but this year, due to COVID-19 making face-to-face events difficult, they are instead delivering food packages to neighbors in need throughout Mokpo City.
President Moon Kyung-hee said, “I am glad to be able to deliver simple but sincerely prepared food to the elderly exhausted from COVID-19,” and added, “I hope next year we will have the opportunity to invite the elderly in person and serve them samgyetang.”
