Gwangju Office of Education Holds '2021 Gwangju Education Key Tasks Briefing'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 17th that it will hold the '2021 Gwangju Education Major Tasks Briefing' on the 18th via real-time online live streaming due to the spread of COVID-19 community infections.
The 'Gwangju Education Major Tasks Briefing' will be conducted in a format that provides guidance on policies to be focused on in 2021, centered on the five major policies and three key tasks of the city education office, and answers questions.
The city education office presented five major policies to foster 'just democratic citizens living together' including ▲realizing human education full of respect and consideration ▲strengthening learning-centered education where students learn independently and seek together ▲promoting career education to nurture dreams and aptitudes ▲expanding universal educational welfare without discrimination ▲implementing trusted educational administration through communication and participation.
The three key tasks were selected with a focus on overcoming the crisis together as an educational community amid the COVID-19 crisis situation: ▲establishing school culture innovation ▲creating safe learning environments ▲strengthening eco-friendly future education.
In particular, Gwangju Education in 2021 plans to actively respond to crisis situations by not only establishing a quarantine system for infectious disease response but also building psychological and emotional safety nets to overcome COVID-19 phobia and establishing an education system that can switch to remote classes at any time.
Reflecting national policies and social demands, it will strengthen practice-centered ecological citizenship education through climate crisis response environmental and ecological education, build an educational foundation to respond to future society, and develop student-led educational activities beyond student-centered ones.
Also, to minimize the educational gap highlighted by the prolonged remote classes, it plans to establish an integrated learning-welfare network to provide individualized customized learning welfare services. It will also strengthen responsibility of schools through enhanced Korean language and numeracy education for lower-grade elementary students and basic academic achievement support.
