Gwangju Reports Double-Digit COVID-19 Cases Again After 3 Days... Mainly Undetected Infections, 10 New Cases in One Day
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Overnight, 4 additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to Gwangju City on the 17th, as of midnight the previous day, 4 people tested positive and were classified as Gwangju cases 836 to 839.
Including the 6 cases confirmed earlier the same day, a total of 10 people tested positive on the 16th alone, marking a double-digit number of confirmed cases again after 3 days since the 13th.
Also, transmission appears to be spreading linked to the unknown infection route cases, Gwangju 810, 830, and 831.
Cases 836 and 837, residents of Samgak-dong, Buk-gu, are contacts of case 810, a member of Gwangju Seongil Church.
The transmission cases linked to case 810 have increased to a total of 7, including cases 823, 826, 827, 828, 829, 836, and 837.
Previously, diagnostic tests conducted on 71 people, including members of Gwangju Seongil Church who had contact with case 810, have continued to confirm positive results among case 810’s family, acquaintances, and church members.
Case 838 is a family member of case 831, a single elderly person in their 70s who was confirmed positive on the same day. They visited case 831’s home between the 1st and 10th of the month, were classified as a close contact, and tested positive in the diagnostic test.
Case 839 is a confirmed case related to case 830, who is a social service worker.
