Cooperation for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region... Korea-UN ESCAP Annual Consultation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 16th that it held the 31st Korea-UN ESCAP Asia-Pacific Economic and Social Commission Annual Consultation via video conference.
At the consultation, Tae-young, Director General of the International Economic Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Adnan Aliani, Director General of Strategic Business Management at UN ESCAP, attended as chief representatives, respectively.
Through this annual consultation, both sides exchanged opinions on △ reviewing the progress of ongoing projects under the Korea-UN ESCAP Cooperation Fund △ discovering and discussing new projects △ expanding the participation of Korean nationals in the UN ESCAP Secretariat.
Our side emphasized enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of meaningful cooperation fund projects, such as expanding regional transport and trade infrastructure connectivity and accumulating data related to vulnerable groups, based on the experience and lessons learned from previous cooperative projects.
In response, UN ESCAP expressed gratitude for the Korean government's contributions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Asia-Pacific region and to UN ESCAP, and replied that they would work together to ensure that various cooperative projects between the Korean government and UN ESCAP are linked more organically.
