Gwangju University Selected as the Only Regional University for the 'Regional Specialized Youth Trade Expert Training Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangju University announced on the 16th that it has been selected as the only regional university to participate in the 'Regional Specialized Youth Trade Expert Training Project (GTEP)' organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea International Trade Association.
Gwangju University, which has been selected for this project for 15 consecutive years since 2009, will train young trade experts combining trade theory and field experience to strengthen the export competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises over the next three years.
The Gwangju University GTEP Project Group has produced about 420 prospective trade professionals over the past 14 years.
In particular, it has played a key role in supporting exports for local companies by participating in domestic and international exhibitions and export consultation meetings more than 260 times with local SMEs, achieving export contracts worth 9.7 million dollars.
The project group selects 35 students annually to provide intensive foreign language and trade practice education, field training programs, and participates in domestic and international exhibitions to conduct export marketing activities jointly with SMEs in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.
To overcome the export decline and crisis of local SMEs caused by COVID-19, it is also promoting overseas market expansion education by hosting online e-commerce and video export consultation meetings.
