View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] On the 16th, Park Neung-hoo, Minister of Health and Welfare, underwent the newly introduced 'Rapid Antigen Test' at a temporary screening clinic for COVID-19 installed at Seoul Station.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Minister Park received a negative result just 30 minutes after taking the test that day.
To respond to the spread of the third wave of COVID-19, the government has been operating temporary screening clinics at 150 locations in the metropolitan area since the 14th. Minister Park visited the screening clinic that day to promote new testing methods, including the rapid antigen test, and to encourage active testing among the public.
At the temporary screening clinics, in addition to the existing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, saliva-based PCR tests and rapid antigen tests that provide quick results are available. Minister Park said, "With more diverse testing methods and improved accessibility to testing sites, we expect more citizens to be able to get tested easily."

He also promised additional support for the insufficient medical workforce and to promptly address difficulties faced on the front lines. After making these remarks, Minister Park expressed gratitude to the medical staff and response personnel working hard at the forefront of quarantine efforts despite the freezing cold weather.
