Goheung Yuja, Diversifying B2B Market Strategies to Foster High Value-Added Industries
2021 Ministry of Agriculture Food National Public Project 1.5 Billion Won Finalized for Hanseong Food
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 16th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that Hanseong Food, a yuzu processing specialized company, was finally selected in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' nationwide public contest project, securing a project budget of 1.5 billion KRW (450 million KRW in national funds).
The nationwide public contest project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs aims to expand the demand for domestic agricultural products and regulate supply and demand, as well as increase farmers' income by strengthening the linkage between agriculture and the food industry through fostering the semi-processed food material industry.
So far, Hanseong Food Agricultural Cooperative Corporation (CEO Kim Jongnam) has been supplying semi-finished products (candied yuzu) and yuzu juice in small quantities to domestic and overseas food companies and franchise stores (10 domestic companies, 4 overseas companies).
Through this public contest project, with the introduction of food material industrialization facilities such as fresh yuzu extraction, concentration, sterilization, and filling, related products such as yuzu sauce, yuzu beverages, yuzu juice, yuzu oil, yuzu flavoring, and yuzu vinegar will be materialized. The plan is to strategically promote Goheung yuzu as a high value-added industry in both the domestic B2B market and diversified overseas markets, thereby increasing yuzu income by stabilizing prices for producing farmers.
Currently, Hanseong Food possesses state-of-the-art processing plants and patented facility equipment in Korea's tea industry, and is equipped with the best processing technology with international certifications such as HACCP facilities, Malaysia Islamic (JAKIM), Halal, Israel Kosher, and FSSC22000.
Goheung yuzu accounts for 57.9% nationwide as the largest production area, but on the other hand, it faces issues such as weakened production base conditions due to the aging of trees, population decline and aging, and quality control problems of raw fruits caused by flood shipments during the harvest season.
