Suncheon Police Send Foreigners Violating COVID-19 Self-Quarantine to Prosecution

The Suncheon Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that they sent a foreigner, Mr. A (31), to the prosecution with a non-detention indictment opinion on charges of violating the COVID-19 self-quarantine order and leaving quarantine (violation of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act).
Mr. A is accused of leaving his residence despite being ordered to self-quarantine for two weeks until the 4th of this month after entering through Incheon Airport on the 20th of last month.
According to the investigation, Mr. A was reported by health authorities after traveling to Seoul to look for a job.

A police official said, “Unauthorized departure from the quarantine location or refusal of quarantine measures is a serious illegal act,” adding, “As penalties for violating self-quarantine rules have been strengthened, strict punishment will be imposed on violators.”
