The World's Largest IT and Electronics Exhibition 'CES 2021'... First Ever Online Event Scheduled for January Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics swept the 'CES Innovation Awards' ahead of 'CES 2021,' the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition held in the United States next January.
At the announcement of the CES Innovation Award-winning products released by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) on the 15th (local time), Samsung Electronics received 44 awards, and LG Electronics received 24 awards. Every year, CTA selects innovative products from those exhibited at CES and presents the CES Innovation Awards.
◆Samsung Electronics Sweeps 44 Awards...Honored with 10 Consecutive Years of Awards in the TV Category, Recognized for Technology Leadership in Mobile, and Five Wearable Products Make Progress
Samsung Electronics demonstrated its technological leadership by winning four Best Innovation Awards in the TV and mobile sectors. In addition, it received a total of 40 Innovation Awards in TV (14), audio (3), monitors (1), home appliances (9), mobile (9), and semiconductors (4).
Including the four Best Innovation Awards in the TV and mobile sectors, Samsung Electronics received a total of 44 Innovation Awards: TV (16), audio (3), monitors (1), home appliances (9), mobile (11), and semiconductors (4). Notably, it set a record by winning the Best Innovation Award in the TV category for 10 consecutive years. Samsung Electronics plans to unveil the 'Next-Generation Display' and 'Smart TV Accessibility,' which won the Best Innovation Awards in the TV category, at CES 2021. Recently released lifestyle products such as 'The Premiere' and 'The Terrace Soundbar,' as well as the virtual channel service 'TV Plus Service,' also earned Innovation Awards.
In the home appliances category, lifestyle-customized kitchen appliances such as the 2021 model 'Family Hub,' 'Bespoke Refrigerator,' and 'Slide-in Range' were selected for Innovation Awards. In the mobile sector, besides the Best Innovation Award winners 'Galaxy Note20 5G Ultra 5G' and 'Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition,' various products including 'Galaxy Z Flip 5G,' 'Galaxy A51 5G,' 'Galaxy Buds Live,' 'Galaxy Watch3,' and 'Samsung DeX' received Innovation Awards. In the semiconductor sector, products such as 'Smart SSD 4TB' and 'uMCP, LM283N+' also won Innovation Awards.
◆LG Electronics Wins 24 CES Innovation Awards Including 2 Best Innovation Awards...Record High Since Participation & 'OLED TV' Wins 5 Awards Including Best Innovation in Gaming Category
LG Electronics also received a record-high 24 CES Innovation Awards since its participation, including two Best Innovation Awards.
LG Electronics' 48-inch OLED TV and Instaview refrigerator (Korean name: Knock-on Magic Space), which opens the refrigerator door by voice alone, won Best Innovation Awards in the gaming and home appliance categories, respectively. In particular, LG OLED TV received a total of five Innovation Awards, including one Best Innovation Award, across three categories: gaming, video display, and sustainability, eco-design, and smart energy. This marks the ninth consecutive year since 2013 that LG OLED TV has received CES Innovation Awards. The clothing care device LG Styler also received CES Innovation Awards for three consecutive years. Additionally, the electronic mask, which integrates the technology and know-how of LG PuriCare air purifier, won a CES Innovation Award.
