Chinese State Media Mock US COVID Deaths of 300,000 as Failure in Pandemic Response
If China had 300,000 cases, it would have faced a tsunami-level ideological attack
Curious if those responsible for quarantine failures will be punished
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] Chinese state media launched a direct attack on the Trump administration, which failed in epidemic prevention, as the number of deaths from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the United States exceeded 300,000.
Global Times pointed out on the 16th in an editorial that despite the COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. surpassing 300,000, the U.S. is obsessed with attacking China.
Global Times criticized, "If the number of COVID-19 deaths in China had exceeded 300,000 and the West and the U.S. had succeeded in epidemic prevention, China would have become the main target of Western media, and pressure on China would not have been limited to just public opinion."
Global Times continued, "The U.S. and the West would provide humanitarian aid to China while strictly investigating the fundamental political causes of this crisis," emphasizing, "They would claim that COVID-19 is a man-made disaster, not a natural one, similar to the Chernobyl nuclear accident."
Furthermore, it added, "The West would criticize China's authoritarian system as inefficient and accuse China of concealing information domestically and internationally to justify the inevitability of high mortality rates," and "They would say that the lives of Chinese people are not respected."
Global Times also fiercely condemned the West for applying double standards, stating that if China had been the country with the worst response and the greatest damage in a global disaster, it would have faced a tsunami-level ideological offensive.
