[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City was awarded the 'Grand Prize' in the '2020 Excellent Local Government Childcare Policy Evaluation' conducted across 252 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide.
This evaluation, conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, assesses the efforts and achievements of local governments in implementing childcare policies over the year, with a total of 18 local governments selected as award recipients.
Busan City, which won the grand prize, was recognized for its meticulously implemented policies including ▲ the stable establishment of a restructured childcare support system to create a safe childcare environment that parents can trust, ▲ strengthening public childcare through the expansion of national and public daycare centers, ▲ improving childcare quality, ▲ daycare center safety management, and ▲ implementing childcare policies in response to COVID-19.
Following the Presidential Institutional Commendation for contributions to the development of childcare projects last year, Busan City once again celebrated receiving the grand prize in this year's national local government childcare policy evaluation.
Jeon Hye-sook, Director of the Women and Family Bureau of Busan City, said, “Despite the great difficulties posed by COVID-19, achieving such excellent results was thanks to the unwavering dedication of daycare center directors and childcare staff on the front lines, as well as the efforts of district and county officials.”
