Lee Hyuk-je, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member, Receives 'Korea Manifesto Promise Award'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-gyeong] Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 15th that Assemblyman Lee Hyuk-je (The Democratic Party·Mokpo 4) was selected as the Best Assemblyman in the Good Ordinance category at the ‘2020 Local Assembly Manifesto Promise Awards’ hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
The ‘2020 Local Assembly Manifesto Promise Awards’ is an award given to local assembly members who have devotedly worked for regional development and the welfare improvement of residents. The evaluation criteria included the urgency of legislation, the impact on the quality of life of local residents, and regional development.
Assemblyman Lee Hyuk-je has led the proposal of 19 ordinances and petitions over two and a half years. In particular, the ‘Jeollanam-do Office of Education Educational Disaster Relief Fund Payment Ordinance’ was the first case where the Jeonnam Provincial Council enacted and passed an ordinance as a one-point agenda.
Through this, it was evaluated that the quality of life of residents struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic was improved, and educational conditions were supported so that high school students and out-of-school youth in Jeonnam could receive educational benefits.
Also, through the ‘Jeollanam-do Office of Education Out-of-School Youth Education Support Ordinance,’ out-of-school youth in the province receive 50,000 KRW per month for elementary level, 100,000 KRW per month for middle school level, and 200,000 KRW per month for high school level, serving not merely as financial support but as a stepping stone toward returning to public education or employment.
Assemblyman Lee said, “I am pleased to receive this meaningful award as I have done what I should as an assemblyman for the residents of Jeonnam,” and added, “I will do my best in legislative activities to help residents’ lives and enable Jeonnam’s students to freely pursue their dreams.”
