View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is launching the ‘Gwangjin Companion Map’ web mapping service to help residents with mobility difficulties travel comfortably and safely when visiting administrative offices.
The ‘Gwangjin Companion Map’ was created to enhance convenience for mobility-impaired individuals by guiding safe routes to frequently visited administrative offices and facilities for the disabled, as the number of electric wheelchair users increases annually.
To develop the Companion Map, the district built a total of 8 themes and 1,180 contents based on information from individual publicly announced land prices and land characteristics surveys, as well as road surface condition data collected through direct wheelchair travel.
Through this, travel routes from bus stops and subway stations to nearby administrative offices are marked on the map, distinguishing between easily passable paths and inconvenient routes.
On the interface, sky-blue paths indicate flat terrain suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, navy-blue paths represent gentle slopes, purple paths indicate steep slopes, and light green paths signify dead-end roads that are impassable.
Additionally, users can select and display information by theme on the map, such as ▲wheelchair paths ▲public transportation facilities like bus stops and subway station entrances ▲and roads that are difficult to pass, including stairs and dead-end roads.
The ‘Gwangjin Companion Map’ service is available from this month via Smart Seoul Map or the Gwangjin-gu Office website (Frequently Used Services → Citizen Welfare → Gwangjin Companion Map).
