Name Change Reports in Jungnang-gu to Be Processed Within 2 Days Starting Next Year
Priority Processing System for Name Change Applications Implemented... 'Passport Reissuance Guidance Service' Also Launched for Name Change Applicants
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will implement the ‘Priority Processing System for Name Change Reports,’ which processes name change reports within 2 days starting January next year, along with a ‘Passport Reissuance Guidance Service’ for those who report name changes.
This ‘Priority Processing System for Name Change Reports’ is a service that drastically shortens the processing period from the existing 4-5 days to 2 days.
On average, about 780 name change reports are received annually, and even after processing, various follow-up procedures such as reissuing identification cards, changing seals, and updating names on financial and real estate documents occur.
The district expects that the follow-up procedure period will naturally be shortened as well due to the reduced processing time through this ‘Priority Processing System for Name Change Reports.’
Additionally, the district plans to provide a ‘Name Change Report Follow-up Procedure Guide’ to residents who report name changes and place the guide at community service centers to prevent any potential inconvenience to civil petitioners caused by incomplete follow-up procedures.
The guide details the tasks to be done after the name change, required documents, and contact information for each institution, making it easy for petitioners to follow the follow-up procedures.
In particular, the district will also implement the ‘Passport Reissuance Guidance Service’ for those who report name changes alongside the ‘Priority Processing System for Name Change Reports.’ This service provides a passport reissuance guide to name change reporters to prevent inconveniences that may arise if they travel abroad carrying a passport issued before the name change without reissuing it after the name change.
The guide informs that existing passports with remaining validity cannot be used after the name change and provides detailed information on the required documents to reissue a passport under the changed name, thus expected to alleviate inconveniences for name change reporters.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I am pleased that the new Priority Processing System for Name Change Reports and the Passport Reissuance Guidance Service for name change reporters will not only shorten civil service processing times but also relieve inconveniences for petitioners. We will continue to do our best to provide various administrative services that reduce inconvenience and increase convenience for our residents.”
