Gwangju Dong-gu Honored as 'National Excellent Local Government for Social Economy'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 14th that it was honored to receive the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award by being selected for the Excellence Award in the 'Outstanding Cases of Social Economy Promotion by Local Governments' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
In October, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety held a contest for outstanding cases and policies to revitalize the social economy targeting local governments nationwide as part of efforts to activate the social economy, and each city and province recommended two places through their own evaluations.
As a result of judging 25 final candidates, three autonomous districts were selected and won the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award.
In particular, Dong-gu received high evaluations in providing spaces to establish the independence of social economy enterprises, including ▲providing free spaces through an agreement with Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) ▲entrusted operation of the social enterprise ‘Chungjang22’ ▲leasing cafes within Dong-gu Office and Pureun Village Community Center ▲hosting three social economy enterprises in the Startup Support Center ▲linking neglected private spaces with regional innovation projects in collaboration with social enterprises.
